Reuter _ New Delhi. India developed the cheapest laptop in the world, with a touch screen and costs $ 35.

Minister of Human Resource Development of India, Kapil Sibal, introduced low-cost machine that was designed for students, and said that his ministry began negotiations with global manufacturers to start mass production.

"We have reached a stage (development) in today, the motherboard, the chip, processor, connectivity, all cost cumulatively about $ 35, including memory, screen, everything," Sibal said.

He said the computer contains browsers Internet, a reader of PDF files and software for video, but its hardware was created with sufficient flexibility to incorporate new components according to user needs.
Sibal said the computer, which operates on the Linux operating system would be introduced in institutions of higher education since 2011, but that would seek to further reduce its price, first to $ 20 and finally to $ 10.

The device was developed by research teams in the two major technological institutes in India, the Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Science.
