How Do I Get The Smell Out Of My Ski Boots

Google search engine: conversation and documents all in one

A new emerging technology is still threatening to give a twist to the current conception of the web. The idea, of course, comes from the hand of Google. After revolutionizing the Web with your browser, back in 1997, and additional services (email, server news, online documents, videos on demand and other technological paraphernalia), Google bet now by Wave: a technological design capable of binding documents and conversations on a single platform and interactive.

The free jump in the last event Google IO (in English), last May. Google presented its new proposal by surprise website, which aims to change the current notion of online conversations and give a step toward a distributed operating system (ie, an operating system that runs on the computer itself, but it remains hosted on remote machines), allowing access to all our online applications from any site. It has been months since the American company to pass the tool being tested, since June, some lucky developers around the world are responsible for testing, evaluating and improving Wave as a precursor to its official release. Today, finally, is beginning to learn the details of its operation.

Google, as a wave

the concept may be difficult to understand at first, of course, the application changes any previous perception of Internet communication, "so perhaps best use is the very definition Google does Wave of ("wave" in English). "Ambiguous? Maybe. So this article: an explanation of each of the basics of the tool, you need to build a mental picture of a system as comprehensive and innovative hard to imagine. One example is the left image, showing an instant Wave at full capacity.

What is a wave ?

Imagine a document editable by multiple users, in turn, can hold multilateral talks within the same document. That's Wave. For its creators, "a wave conversation can be and papers where people can discuss and work together using rich text format, photos, videos, maps and more. "Google says its application on three pillars:

  • A wave is conversation and documents in equal shares; allows people to communicate and work together.
  • A wave is shared. Any participant can respond anywhere in the message, edit content and add participants at any point in the process. playback function allows any rewind the wave to see who said what and when.
  • A wave alive. With live broadcast as you type, the participants in a wave able to have conversations faster, view the different edicioens and interact in real time.

I want it, want it, want!

Since Google had started its test phase in July this year, have received millions of requests to evaluate Wave. Everyone wants to be the first to try. However, only a fortunate few have been "rewarded" with an invitation to see the tool in full operation. All other users will be satisfied with videos like the one Google has posted on its website (eye, hard almost an hour and a half!):

First Impressions "experts"

As mentioned above, a small number of developers, users and engineers are trying Wave few months ago. The evaluation begins to bear fruit and first impressions emerge. Experts agree developers emphasize the novelty of the system . Similarly, share opinions about the difficulty in addressing the use of a tool totally unknown . What does seem clear is that the way to share documents will be completely different than above known. Wave

, the perfect browser

Google Launched earlier this year, Chrome, the new Google browser , is designed to replace the old Internet Explorer and inserting it difficult to Firefox, the browser Mozilla. Much lighter and faster than its competitors, Chrome is the perfect platform to host this type of technology. Its simplicity of use and open source (any developer can contribute to improve the program themselves) are the basis for Google's waves. In fact, some advanced users argue that will Wave final lunge to the browser of Microsoft (unable, so far, to support such advanced technologies).

In light of the facts, can only hope the official launch of Google Wave to end such speculation and see if, finally, the tech giant back to revolutionize the Internet with a new tool, going upstream, not cost euro.
